A brief detour after last week’s hip-hop sample of a Schoolhouse Rock song about the number 8: a hip-hop-sampled Schoolhouse Rock song about the number 3! Both songs were written by Bob Dorough, the singer here, and both are magical in different ways. Children’s musical entertainment is generally unhelpful bullshit these days, and here we have something that’s honest-to-God soulful and even funky, made by people that genuinely care about children: a rarity that becomes even more rare as time goes on. Well, at least we still have Sesame Street. And Baby Loves Hip Hop.
